The Montgomery County Educational Foundation (MCEF) held its annual Teacher Grant Breakfast on Thursday morning. Around 150 attendees showed up to the Crawfordsville District Public Library to view a presentation that highlighted how its grants have helped teachers in the community support their classrooms through improved technology; hands-on based learning initiatives; and tailored accommodations for their students. MCEF receives a portion of its funding through the Montgomery County Community Foundation (MCCF), which has provided a $30,000 grant to the organization this past year. In return, MCEF awarded around $34,000 to 35 classroom projects across the three county school corporations, helping introduce unique ways to teach on topics such as science, the arts, and mathematics.
“Since 1991, we have awarded around $523,000 in teacher grants”, said Brad Monts, board treasurer for the MCEF. “Grant cycles are held every spring. The due date for this year is April 11th”.
