A victim has been identified in a fatal shooting that occurred at Milligan Park Thursday night. 31-year-old Kaleb Isabell of Rockville, IN, has died from his injuries sustained from the shooting.
According to a press release sent by Crawfordsville Police Chief Aaron Mattingly, officers from the Crawfordsville Police Department received a 911 call at around 10:00 p.m. reporting that a person had been shot at Milligan Park in Crawfordsville. They were joined by the Indiana State Police; the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office; and medics from the Crawfordsville Fire Department upon the discovery of Isabell.
According to court documents received by the Journal Review, police believe the shooting stemmed from a drug deal gone wrong. A large amount of cash was discovered at the crime scene, along with a camouflage backpack containing a burner phone.
Persons of interest were detained around 10:50 p.m. last night shortly afterwards. No charges nor arrests have been filed at this time.
Chief Mattingly noted that periodic closures of Milligan Park may be required as the investigation continues, and informs the public to keep an eye on the City of Crawfordsville’s Facebook page for updates. The public is encouraged to avoid the area at this time.
