Youth Service Bureau to welcome new executive director next year

The Montgomery County Youth Service Bureau (YSB) is going to be under new leadership next year. County native Calli Mayotte will step in as its executive director on Jan. 1, 2027. She will serve as an assistant executive director starting June 1 under the direction of current director Karen Branch, who will retire at the end of 2026.

“Throughout my time working at Montgomery County, I’ve seen all the great things the Youth Service Bureau has done for the youth,” said Mayotte. “The opportunity to lead such an organization was something I had to try, and I’m so excited to be the one that gets to carry it forward into the new generation”.

Mayotte received her bachelors degree in elementary education from Franklin College, where she later worked as a teacher before deciding to transition into different home visiting programs.

When asked about problems going on in youth culture today, Calli stated that “we have many early childcare needs in our community. With vouchers being a gap and daycares unfortunately closing their doors…there are some great coalitions that we can step in and partner with. When we look at our teenagers, we have a mental health crisis. We have a tobacco use situation in our community. [I aim to] help address those barriers and needs as well.”

“My career has spanned 43 years at this point; all of that has been working with youth in different capacities”, reflected Branch. “I came to the YSB about 15 years ago. We’ve been able to grow the agency since I’ve been there; we have tremendous staff who do great things for kids; we were able to get our new building during that time”.

WCDQ had a chance to talk with Mayotte and Branch at the station. Listen to the full interview below.
